What is JEE?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an engineering entrance examination conducted for admission to various engineering colleges in India. This entrance examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

This entrance examination was started and conducted for the very first time in the year 1960. At that time this entrance examination was named Common Entrance Examination (CEE), which later in 2010 it was re-named as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The JEE examination is conducted in two parts:

  1. JEE Main
  2. JEE Advanced

1. JEE Main :

The Joint Entrance Examination Main consists of two papers:
  • Paper 1
  • Paper 2
In Paper-1 it is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.Tech/B.E) at NITs, IITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs), Institutions funded by participating State Governments, as well as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.

Paper-2 is conducted for admission to B-Arch and B-Planning courses in India


2. JEE Advanced :

Joint Entrance Examination Advanced is the 2nd part of the JEE examination. It is conducted after the JEE Main exam. Those students who are interested in admission to premier engineering institutes such as IITs, It is an important test for them. JEE Advanced is an online-based examination and is usually conducted by seven different Indian IITs
  1. IIT Kharagpur
  2. IIT Bombay
  3. IIT Madras
  4. IIT Guwahati
  5. IIT Roorkee
  6. IIT Delhi
  7. IIT Kanpur
