The country's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had announced the launch of a scheme named 'Agneepath' on June 14, 2022. In this, the youth will be recruited in the armed forces for four years. The youth selected under the scheme will be called 'Agniveer' and this year around 46,000 youths are planned to join the Sahastra forces.

What is 'Agneepath' Scheme?
Under the Agneepath scheme of the Centre, 46 thousand youth are to be inducted into the Sahastra forces this year. Under the scheme the youth will be recruited for four years and will be called 'Agniveer'. The age of Agniveers will be between 17 to 21 years and they will get 30-40 thousand per month salary. 25 percent of the youth recruited under the scheme will get more opportunities in the army and the remaining 75 percent will have to leave the job.
  • The selected youth will get an initial salary of Rs 30,000 every month, which will increase to Rs 40,000 for four years of service.
  • Selected candidates will be given 6 months training. After that he will be appointed.
  • Under this scheme youth will be recruited in Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
  • The first recruitment process under the scheme is planned to be started within 90 days.
  • The first batch of recruitment under Agneepath scheme will come in 2023.
  • 10th and 12th pass candidates can apply under this scheme.
